Week Three

Is this running killing anyone else?

Here's this weeks schedule. Sorry for the late post. I've been running all around.

Monday: 2 miles
Tuesday: 2.5 miles
Wednesday: Cross Training for 45 minutes or rest
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: Rest day
Saturday: 5 miles
Sunday: Rest day

So, I won't lie. I am running as much as I can, but I'm also speed walking. But, hey, I'm still doing it! How are you doing?

Happy late Valentines Day to everyone! Nic and I celebrated today. We went and saw "Valentines Day". I thought it was hilarious. It has its inappropriate parts, but, overall, I thought it was funny.

Thanks Love, for the fun afternoon.

Going, Going, Going...

Here's the running schedule for the week:
Monday:2.5 Miles, easy run
Tuesday: 2 miles
Wednesday: Rest. Don't do anything.
Thursday: 3 miles
Friday: Cross Training (biking, swimming, elliptical trainer, etc.)easy to moderate effort for 30-45 minutes.
Saturday: 4 miles
Sunday: Rest

I'm personally feeling a little discouraged. My tredmill needs to be lubed and we've been trying to find the oil all weekend. I confess, I didn't do my running on Saturday. But, I'm going to do my best to make sure I am prepared to do it every scheduled day this week.

This week is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness week. Those of you who have shirts... WEAR THEM! I made up cute, simple valentines to hand out all week long. It just has some statistics and a cute little reese's heart candy on it. We love CHDers... spread the love by informing others about Congenital Heart Defects. Feel free to do the valentine idea, if you feel so inclined.

PS I really don't care about the superbowl very much, but I'm glad the Saints won. They totally deserved it.

Here We Go!!!

Nic and I are training to run the Provo City Half Marathon on May 1st... AND WE WANT YOU TO RUN WITH US!!!

Nic is a runner... he's a natural at it. BUT I AM NOT!!! So, join me! This is my first-ever attempt at this. And, I'm gonna do it. I AM gonna do it. With or without fellow runners, I'm going to do it.

Training starts today. Run two miles today. It's supposed to be a comfortable pace. Don't worry about the time, just run it. I just finished my run and it felt GREAT!!!!! I'm serious!!

Tomorrow's run is another two miles. Push yourself a bit. We'll do it together.

And, if it's hard for you to make yourself excited for this training, find someone to do it for... someone who would do it, but can't.

I'm dedicating my training and the half-marathon run to my little princess. My girl. My Mercydez.

I've learned something about myself... I'm much more inclined to do something if I focus my emotions on it. Take your happiness, your anger, your joy, your sorrow and FOCUS it on this. There's nothing wrong with being emotional! Make your emotions work FOR you, not AGAINST you. I'm an emotional person. Last year we built and planted a garden in honor of my princess. This year, along with keeping up on the garden, I'm doing this training and running the half-marathon. I'm hoping, if I can, to run more half-marathons. We'll see. One step at a time.

Leave a comment on my blog if you're in. There's no pressure at all. It's all in good fun and in honor of those we love, living or in heaven. Who are you dedicating your efforts to?

They Say...

We copy those we love because we want to be like them.

Well......

KACEY’S DOIN’ THE BRAXTON ON ICE!!!

Exciting, Exciting!!!

Okay, so I HAD to take a minute and share my excitement...

1. Anatomy is OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER OVER!!! Ah, to breathe again. It's fabulous.

2. Nic got an A in Anatomy!!!(YES YOU READ THAT RIGHT... an A!!!!! AND YES I'M SCREAMING AT THE TOP OF MY LUNGS BECAUSE I'M SO EXCITED!!!!)

3. I got a B+, which isn't an A... BUT I DON'T HAVE TO TAKE THAT CLASS EVER AGAIN!!! (Please see parenthesis in number 2).

4. I got a job at a womens clothing store called "White House Black Market"! I LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! The clothing is absolutely BEAUTIFUL and I've been spending waaaay too much money there. You'll have to come in and see me some time! :)

5. A new school semester has started. I've decided to take it easy this semester because I turned into a psycho last semester. I'm taking my last required general... English 2010 and I LOVE my class. I'm so excited! I love English. And, I'll be getting my Associates Degree at the end of this semester. I'm getting there... slowly, but surely.

6. Nic is taking a trillion (okay, not that many, but a lot) of classes this semester. He's on his way into the nursing program. He'll be so AMAZING. Seriously. I'm so excited for him.

7. We went ice skating last weekend for our date and it was super fun... minus the horrible motion sickness I got from it. :( ...see cute pictures below.

.

8. Zak, our nephew, is going on his mission! Wow, it came so fast! He is going to be amazing out there in Ohio! So, my Ohio-ian friends... please welcome him out there! He's so cute and fun! He'll make a great friend. :)

9. I met and had my picture taken with the Brown Sisters (as in Brown vs. Board of Education). I know you're jealous of my amazing outfit. We caterers are trendy people, I tell ya.

And in news NOT so exciting.... ;)
10. Nic's mullet is growing.... ever so trashy and strong. (sigh). Why is it that boys feel the need to make competition out of things so ridiculous and gross? I have to chuckle though. I think Nic dreams of keeping it. Can't wait til March when we can CHOP IT OFF!!!

Happy Second Birthday Little Girl!!!

Mercy's 2nd birthday was last Sunday. January 3rd. I so remember that day, two years ago. I remember the excitement involved in her birth! She is our greatest blessing. We love her so so so much. I'm SO GRATEFUL we are a forever family. We're trying to do all that is required so that we can all be together again. Have I said that I love her? Well, I do.

We decided to keep the day very simple.

We went to Temple Square and listened to Music and The Spoken Word. It was meant for me. In fact... during the "spoken word" part, Lloyd Newell quoted the exact same quote on the side of my blog. It was a tender mercy from Heavenly Father. He is aware of me. He is aware of you. It was beautiful.

Then we came home. After dinner we went to the Cemetery to visit her beautiful memorial. It was wonderful to be there. It was emotional, yes. But, it was wonderful. We sang a teary, but well deserved "Happy Birthday"! I love that little girl.

Then we came home and had a yummy ice cream cake my mom got! It was soooooo good. It was so cute too!

Was it a hard day? Parts of it. But more than it being hard, it was a beautiful day. Thank you to those who sent their love. You are so special.

I'm so grateful for this special, special angel in my life. She has touched my heart. She has brought Nic and I closer together. Oh, how we love that little girl.
